Day 1
Group arrives at Roscrea or can be collected from train station or airport (optional), Check into Board Failte approved Racket Hall Country House Hotel minutes away from 8th century Monaincha Abbey which is listed as the 31st Wonder of the World.
Day 2
Collected from hotel and brought on tour of Roscrea Castle which was built in 1281 and is alongside Damer House & Gardens which is circa 18th Century, and has one of the finest examples of a Georgian staircase in Europe. From there, it’s across to the Round Tower which is early 12th Century, then to Monaincha Abbey which is 8th century and is known as the Island of the Living. It is reputed that any female that stepped onto the Island would die. Onwards to Sean Ross Abbey, founded in 554ad by St. Cronan who is the Patron Saint of Roscrea. To end the day, there is a short drive to the renowned Mt. St. Joseph’s Abbey built in 1878 and now occupied by the Cistercian Monks who run a Boarding School which has produced some of Ireland’s finest politicians and a working farm. Then back to the hotel. This day is a leisurely day’s walking, of no more than 10km, No height gain
Day 3
Collected from hotel and brought on an eco tour of Monaincha Bog which once was a vast lake and was drained in the 1790s. It has many mini-canals which were used to transport peat to the nearby Birch Grove House Distillery for the drying of the malt. It has amazing flora and fauna and provides a chance to view a working bog in action. Back to the hotel. This day has 5 hours walking across bog and forest track and totals about 12km. No height gain
Day 4
Collected from hotel and brought on a tour of the world famous Rock of Cashel which dates from the 1100s. From its grounds one can see the Devil’s Bit in the distance where, as legend has it, St Patrick banished Satan from a cave and Satan, in a fit of anger, took a bite from the mountain and spat it out where it landed and became the Rock of Cashel. In the afternoon we walk the Devil’s Bit mountain and then return to the hotel. This morning’s walk around the Rock of Cashel lasts about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace and the afternoon on the Devil’s Bit is about 3.5 hours of walking over rock and forest track. Back to the hotel. Total height gain 480mts.
Day 5
Collected from hotel, and taken on an Eco walk in the Slieve Bloom mountains. The walk takes us up by the beautiful Glenbarrow Waterfall and continues to the Stoney Man at the summit where you can stand on what was once was the highest point in Ireland - the Slieve Blooms are the oldest mountains in Europe second only to the French Masiff and were once the highest. From the Stoney Man you look across to Croghan Hill, once an active volcano. Back to the hotel.
This is a full day’s hillwalking of about 25km over mainly forest track and bogland. Total height gain 527mts.
Day 6
Departure with airport and train transfers if required (optional).

Collection from airport or train station (optional). Check into the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh which is centrally located in Nenagh Town close to all amenities. The hotel has its own leisure centre.
Day 2
Collected from hotel and brought to Roscrea for a tour of Roscrea Castle which was built in 1281 and is alongside Damer House and Gardens which is circa 18th Century, and has one of the finest examples of a Georgian staircase in Europe. From there, it’s across to the Round Tower which is early 12th Century, then to Monaincha Abbey which is 8th century and is known as the Island of the Living. It is reputed that any female that stepped onto the Island would die. Onwards to Sean Ross Abbey, founded in 554ad by St. Cronan who is the Patron Saint of Roscrea. To end the day, there is a short drive to the renowned Mt. St. Joseph’s Abbey built in 1878 and now occupied by the Cistercian Monks who run a Boarding School which has produced some of Ireland’s finest politicians and a working farm. Visit the village of Moneygall and the ancestral home of Barack Obama. Have a relaxing pint in Ollie Hayes’s pub, where Barack Obama had a pint of Guinness! On then to the nearby Cloughjordan Eco Village which is one of the first of its kind in Europe, purpose built with the environment in mind. Collected from hotel and taken to the nearby Silvermines Mountains`to see where the Danes mined for silver in the 9th Century. We walk the Silvermines ridge and learn the history of the mines where, over recent years, modern mining has extracted lead, zinc, copper, baryte and silver. The mines have been mined commercially since 1289. Then it's over to Keeper Hill to avail of the stunning views over Lough Derg and Limerick and then back to the hotel. This is a full day’s walking on the hills of about 25km. Total height gain 684mts

Collected from hotel for a short drive to Killaloe on the banks of the British Isles' longest river, the Shannon and a visit the Brian Boru Heritage Centre. Brian Boru was a legendary Irish chieftain who is reputed to have fought great battles in the area in 980AD. From there, take the Lough Derg Way up to the Graves of Leinstermen which is a bronze-age burial ground dating back to 1500bc and is where Brian Boru is said to have killed the Leinster Vikings, hence the name, Graves of Leinstermen. We stop on the way back in lakeside Garrykennedy for a leisurely pint in Larkin’s traditional Irish pub. Back to the hotel. This is a full day's walking on the hills ofabout 25km walking. Total height gain 364mts.

Collected from Hotel and taken for a visit to Lakeshore Foods in Ballingarry, where there’s an opportunity to view and taste the award winning range of relishes, preserves, and chutneys. Onwards to Shannonbridge for a looped walk along the Shannon taking in views of Ardnacrusha Power Station, the canal systems and fine views over Lough Derg. The morning is quite leisurely, the afternoon’s walk is circa 4.5 hours and 20km. No height gain.

Collected from guest house and taken to walk the Devil’s Bit in the morning where legend has it that St Patrick banished Satan from a cave and in a fit of anger the Devil took a bite out of the mountain and spat it out toward Cashel, where it became the Rock of Cashel. Back up to Moneygall and visit Barack Obama’s ancestral home, and have a relaxing pint in Ollie Hayes’s pub, where Barack Obama had a pint of Guinness! Back to Guest House. Packed lunch provided. (Morning walk is about 18km, 3.5 hours) total height gain 480mts
Day 3
Collected from guest house and taken on tour of the world famous Rock of Cashel which dates from the 1100s with views of the Devils’ Bit. Afterwards we climb the nearby Galtee Mountains with their majestic views over the Golden Vale, Limerick, Waterford, Kilkenny and climb Galty Mor (weather and fitness permitting). Galty Mor is one of Ireland’s few Munro’s (mountain over 3000ft and named after Scottish mountaineer Sir Hugo Munro) then back to guest house. It's a gentle stroll around Cashel in the morning with an energetic 4 hour walk in the Galtees in the afternoon, about 4 hours walking, 15km. Total height gain 919mts.

Galty Mor is one of Ireland’s few Munro’s (mountain over 3000ft and named after Scottish mountaineer Sir Hugo Munro) then back to guest house. It's a gentle stroll around Cashel in the morning with an energetic 4 hour walk in the Galtees in the afternoon, about 4 hours walking, 15km. Total height gain 919mts.
Day 4
Collected from guest house and brought on tour of Roscrea Castle which was built in 1281 and is alongside Damer House & Gardens which is circa 18th Century, and has one of the finest examples of a Georgian staircase in Europe. From there, it’s across to the Round Tower which is early 12th Century, then to Monaincha Abbey which is 8th century and is known as the Island of the Living. It is reputed that any female that stepped onto the Island would die. Onwards to Sean Ross Abbey, founded in 554ad by St. Cronan who is the Patron Saint of Roscrea. To end the day, there is a short drive to the renowned Mt. St. Joseph’s Abbey built in 1878 and now occupied by the Cistercian Monks who run a Boarding School which has produced some of Ireland’s finest politicians and a working farm. Then back to the hotel. This day is a leisurely day’s walking, of no more than 10km, No height gain.
Day 5
Collected from hotel for a short drive to Killaloe on the banks of the British Isles' longest river, the Shannon and a visit the Brian Boru Heritage Centre. Brian Boru was a legendary Irish chieftain who is reputed to have fought great battles in the area in 980AD. From there, take the Lough Derg Way up to the Graves of Leinstermen which is a bronze-age burial ground dating back to 1500bc and is where Brian Boru is said to have killed the Leinster Vikings, hence the name, Graves of Leinstermen. We stop on the way back in lakeside Garrykennedy for a leisurely pint in Larkin’s traditional Irish pub. Back to the hotel. This is a full day's walking on the hills ofabout 25km walking. Total height gain 364mts.
