It has been a while since we did a big walking challenge, so today we found ourselves on the Knockmealdowns Challenge, being run by the Peaks Mountaineering club in Clonmell.
We started at 7.45am under calm, cold skies and very soon found ourselves walking in fantastic March sunshine.
This was a 33km hike over some of the most spectucular mountains in Ireland and with a height gain of over 1800mts it was always going to be a tough challenge. We completed the day in just under 9 hours and with hot food at the end in the village of Ballyporeen, Co Tipperary, this was one challenge we won't forget any time soon.
The photo shows one of the last checkpoints at Fearbreaga being manned by the members of the Peaks Mountaineering Club.
A very well run event, and one that will have us back again next year.
If you would like to see more of this fantastic country, why not drop us a line for details of our next big climb at ClimbIreland.
